As a designer/artist, I feel that designs I create are a reflection of the type of person that I am and is a way for me to portray that to others. When I start a new project, I always think of a way of communication with the viewers and myself. Books and films about histories or fantasies also give me an opportunity to experience feelings and situations I have not had in my life; inspiring me to think of my own story to tell in my design. I create a story for each of my design that fits into the fantasy world that I imagine. I like to think in a way that my design come to life from the fantasy I created in my sketchbook. I believe that good design speaks for themselves to tell their story to others. Sometimes, observations of just everyday life can spark new ideas or highlight the beauty of what has already been done. Growing up in Korea and the United States has helped me understand the similarities and differences between the two cultures and has forced me to explore new ideas. However, I feel that design has become a way of communicating my ideas and reaching out to others.
